Burkina Faso Atomic Energy Agency establishes journalist network

The Burkina Faso Atomic Energy Agency (ABEA) has established a new network of journalists and communicators to promote accurate information regarding nuclear technologies. Following a 48-hour training session in Ouagadougou, a bureau consisting of 11 members will lead this initiative.

Approximately 60 media professionals and communication directors participated in modules covering the socio-economic role of nuclear technology, nuclear safety, security, and legal frameworks. The training aimed to ensure that reporting on nuclear energy is factual and educational rather than fear-based. Dr. Zakaria Soré, representing the Director General of ABEA, emphasized that communicating about nuclear technology is a national responsibility that can support sectors such as health, agriculture, water, industry, and energy.
