Senegal President Faye Sets Rapid‑Action Government Plan at June 5 Cabinet Meeting
President Bassirou Diomaye Faye chaired an exceptional council of ministers on 5 June 2026, tasking the newly appointed Prime Minister Ahmadou Alhaminou Mohamed Lo to present an urgent government action plan. The plan must address rapid economic relaunch, cleaning public finances, handling sovereign and internal debt, and supporting the national private sector, SMEs/PMIs, the informal economy and agricultural production.
Faye stressed that the new cabinet must become “a government of work, actions, realizations and rapid results”. He also called for measures to boost household purchasing power, fight poverty, and strengthen social dialogue. Future councils will meet every fifteen days, complemented by regular inter‑ministerial reviews to monitor policy implementation.
