Burkina Faso communities host ceremonies to reward academic excellence

Community-led initiatives in Burkina Faso have recently honored academic achievement through local excellence ceremonies in Sassia and Sabtoana.

In Sassia, the first edition of the school excellence event was organized by local residents to reward high-performing students and teachers. Top students from the Certificat d’études primaires (CEP) and intermediate classes received school kits, including bags and supplies. Teachers were also recognized, including Winessoré Dabiré, who achieved a 94.44% success rate in the CM2 class.

In Sabtoana, the association ‘La Concession’ held its third annual school excellence day, rewarding 41 students who passed their 2025-2026 exams. Rewards included school kits for CEP graduates, helmets and supplies for BEPC students, laptops for baccalaureate graduates, and professional toolkits for those passing vocational exams. Association president Wenceslas Wasso Koïta emphasized that community involvement is essential to support state education efforts and drive regional development.
