Burkina Faso conducts reforestation and medicinal grove planting
Various reforestation and environmental beautification initiatives have been launched across Burkina Faso. In the Sourou province, the provincial directorate of water and forests collaborated with the Tougan traditional practitioners association to plant 165 plants in the Tougan medicinal grove. This effort aims to strengthen the vegetation cover and ensure the availability of medicinal plant species that are currently at risk of disappearing.
In Ouahigouya, the Bayir Neeré association planted 490 trees, including Christmas trees, Ficus benjamina, and Chinese eucalyptus, along a section of the RN2 highway. This activity was part of a national reforestation campaign initiated by Captain Ibrahim Traoré. The association plans to use drip irrigation systems to maintain the new plants and improve the city's landscape.
