Burkina Faso Gendarmerie seizes smuggled goods in Nakambé region

The Burkina Faso National Gendarmerie has conducted several operations in the Nakambé region to combat illicit trafficking and economic crime. These actions, including the WIBGA 3 operation, resulted in the seizure of various fraudulent goods and the arrest of several individuals.

In August 2026, the Zabré territorial brigade seized 76 bags of 50kg fertilizer, six 25kg bags, and 15 canisters of 25-liter gasoline. In Cinkansé, a search on September 22, 2026, near the border with Togo led to the discovery of 35 cartons of ‘YES’ brand cigarettes, valued at approximately 5.6 million CFA francs.

Additionally, on October 2, 2026, the Dialgaye territorial brigade intercepted a RAV4 vehicle containing roughly 36 cartons of smuggled ‘YES’ brand cigarettes. All seized goods and suspects have been handed over to the relevant authorities for legal proceedings.
