Burkina Faso health workers undergo mandatory patriotic immersion

Burkina Faso's Minister of Health, Robert Kargougou, visited Loumbila on September 23, 2026, to oversee the mandatory patriotic immersion training for a second wave of health workers. This cohort, recruited under the Presidential Initiative for Health (IPS), consists of 900 participants currently on-site, including 600 women and 300 men.

The 10-day program, held at the National Institute for Training of Education Personnel (INFPE), combines military and civic instruction. The curriculum includes combat first aid, shooting instruction, military service regulations, and physical training. The initiative aims to foster discipline, patriotism, and a heightened sense of professional and civic responsibility among the new recruits.

To support female participants, the training site has provided childcare services, including a nursery and daycare, to accommodate approximately 200 children. The Minister was accompanied by several officials, including Hamidou Sawadogo of the National Bureau of Grand Projects and Drissa Traoré, the national coordinator of the IPS.
