Burkina Faso launches 25 billion CFA franc sports complex project
Burkina Faso has officially launched construction on a major sports complex and hotel at the Centre omnisports d’entraînement des Étalons (COMET) in Ouaga 2000. The project, inaugurated by Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo on September 22, 2026, is estimated to cost approximately 25.2 billion CFA francs.
The development is expected to be completed within 15 months and will span over eight hectares. The facility will feature two five-story buildings providing a total of 357 accommodations, including 57 double suites for elite teams and 300 standard rooms for other categories. Additionally, a separate building will be dedicated to medical and paramedical services.
Sporting infrastructure within the complex will include FIFA-standard natural and synthetic grass football pitches, an athletics track, tennis courts, and an Olympic-sized swimming pool with relaxation basins. Other amenities include a gymnasium, multi-purpose rooms, and a VAR room. The project, executed by EM2S Faso SARL, aims to professionalize Burkinabè sports and provide high-level athletes with modern training and housing conditions.
