Burkina Faso launches initiatives to combat cybercrime
Burkina Faso has initiated several strategic measures to strengthen its national cybersecurity and protect digital infrastructure. The Central Brigade for the Fight against Cybercrime (BCLCC) launched the second edition of the National Week to Fight Cybercrime (SNLC) from October 26 to 30, 2026. This campaign includes open house days and awareness caravans in Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, and Gaoua, focusing on reducing risky social media behaviors and addressing emerging digital threats.
In a separate move to secure public administration, the Ministry of Digital Transition, Posts, and Electronic Communications established the National Network of Information Systems Security Officers and Cyber Focal Points (REN-CYBER). Launched in Ouagadougou, this network aims to create a coordination framework for ministries and public institutions to manage risks such as phishing, ransomware, and data leaks, while supporting the country's digital transformation and national digital sovereignty.
