Burkina Faso launches youth sports league and inspects agricultural progress

In Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, the first edition of the Ligue de l’Espoir (LIDE) was officially launched at the Wobi stadium. Led by Sports Ambassador Charles Kaboré, the U17 football competition is part of a presidential initiative to promote sporting excellence and provide visibility for youth aged 13 to 17, aiming to facilitate their detection by national and international clubs.

Separately, Minister of State Ismaël Sombié visited the ‘Yèrè Ta’ farm in the Houet region to monitor the 2026-2027 agropastoral campaign. The site, managed by the Conseil burkinabè des filières agropastorales et halieutiques (CBF), has planted 243 hectares focused on seed production, food crops, and fruit arboriculture, including cashew and mango. The Minister emphasized the need to strengthen irrigation to maintain production during the dry season.
