Burkina Faso leaders reaffirm patriotism and urge youth at national colors ceremony
On 3 August 2026 the traditional monthly "montée des couleurs" ceremony was held in Titao, Loroum province and at the Ministry of Secondary Education in Ouagadougou. Captain Djibril Bassolé, High Commissioner of Loroum, praised the province’s recent achievements, noting a 50 % pass rate in the baccalauréat, urging parents to use the seasonal malaria‑prevention campaign, and reaffirming the province’s commitment to welcome internally displaced persons. He also highlighted the continued efforts of the Forces de défense et de sécurité (FDS) and the Volontaires pour la défense de la patrie (VDP).
Professor Moumouni Zoungrana, Minister of Secondary Education, used the same occasion to call on Burkinabè youth to place their confidence and hope in the country. He warned against the dangers of clandestine migration to the Mediterranean, stating, "The paradise is not elsewhere; the paradise is in Burkina Faso," and urged young people to participate fully in the ongoing progressive popular revolution.
Both speakers framed the ceremony as a reminder of national unity, civic responsibility, and the importance of building a prosperous future within Burkina Faso.
