Burkina Faso youth urged to support national sovereignty

In celebration of International Youth Day on August 12, 2026, various provinces in Burkina Faso held events to encourage youth engagement in national development and the construction of a sovereign confederated space within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

In Gayéri, Komondjari provincial Secretary Idrissa Ouédraogo called on young people to take responsibility for the nation's defense and development, urging them to combat cowardice, treachery, and incompetence. In Manga, Zoundwéogo province officials hosted panels on the responsibilities of a revolutionary life, emphasizing the need for technical skills and patriotism to support national sovereignty.

Meanwhile, in Koupéla, Kourittenga province organized discussions focused on the role of Burkinabè youth in building a sovereign confederated space. Local leaders and officials, including Moctar Ilboudo and Awa Nathalie Yéyé, urged the youth to translate their commitment into concrete actions that contribute to the development of their communes and the nation at large.
