Burkina Faso military launches HIV prevention training for health personnel
The Burkina Faso Ministry of War and Patriotic Defense has launched a five-day training program in Ouagadougou for military health service personnel. The initiative focuses on HIV prevention and management to protect the health and combat readiness of the armed forces.
The training curriculum includes instruction on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and differentiated service approaches (ADS). According to Colonel Steevens Ouédraogo, the deputy coordinator of the interministerial committee for the fight against HIV/AIDS, the program is critical due to the high mobility and geographic isolation of troops currently engaged in counter-terrorism operations, which can lead to increased health risks.
