Burkina Faso Minister promotes cultural heritage and tourism

Burkina Faso’s Minister of Culture, Pingdwendé Gilbert Ouédraogo, emphasized the importance of documenting and celebrating national heroes during the second edition of the ‘Bougousso de la diversité’ event. Held alongside SITHO, the initiative aims to strengthen the connection between culture and tourism through a strategy the ministry calls ‘mise en tourisme’.

The event featured various artists and theatrical performances, including depictions of historical figures such as Princess Guimbi Ouattara and the warrior Tiéfo Amoro. Ouédraogo stated that the government intends to promote the nexus of tourism and culture, encouraging Burkinabè citizens to reclaim their own history and highlight local cultural references that have previously been overlooked.
