West African nations implement civic and patriotic training for youth

Across West Africa, various initiatives are underway to bolster national identity and civic engagement among youth. In Burkina Faso, a mandatory patriotic immersion program for high school graduates is being implemented nationwide. Officials, including Foreign Minister Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré and regional governors, have visited sites in Manga, Ziniaré, and Kadiogo to encourage participants and observe the training in discipline and patriotism.

In the Bam province of Burkina Faso, community leaders held traditional rituals to seek ancestral blessings for peace, social cohesion, and economic prosperity. Simultaneously, educational specialists in Kaya are developing specialized vocational training manuals for new professional high schools focused on agriculture, aquaculture, and leather processing to align diplomas with market needs.

In Senegal, the Université Gaston Berger in Saint-Louis has launched a 15-day citizen camp. This initiative brings students together with military and security forces to strengthen civic values and national resilience in response to regional geopolitical instability.
