Burkina Faso police conduct road safety and civic order operations

Burkina Faso's national police have conducted several operations aimed at enforcing road safety and public order. In Ouagadougou, nearly 400 individuals were apprehended during a three-hour nighttime operation on October 23, 2026. The crackdown, part of the ‘Bouclier tête durcie’ initiative, targeted motorists failing to wear mandatory helmets after dark.

In Kombissiri, police arrested 25 youths following citizen reports of disruptive behavior. The group was apprehended at a local high school for performing motorcycle acrobatics that disturbed classes, and near the Tuili market for riding without helmets and engaging in disorderly conduct. Those detained were sentenced to community service, required to pay fines, and provided with civic responsibility training.
