Burkina Faso police dismantle organized armed robbery network
The Regional Judicial Police Service (SRPJ) of Djôrô, supported by various national police divisions, has dismantled a highly organized criminal gang specializing in armed robberies. The group, composed largely of repeat offenders, operated across multiple locations in Burkina Faso and extended into neighboring regions, including Doropo and Bouaké.
The gang targeted commercial sites, gold foundries, gold buyers, service stations, and mobile money outlets to exploit liquid assets. Their structured modus operandi involved identifying targets, planning operations in secret meetings, and executing raids using motorcycles. Members used masks and clothing to conceal their identities, with armed individuals providing security while others used bladed weapons to rob victims. The group frequently used warning shots to intimidate bystanders and was known to kill victims who resisted.
