Burkina Faso private security guards to receive 57,000 FCFA minimum wage
Private security companies in Burkina Faso have signed a historic collective agreement in Ouagadougou following nine years of negotiations. The agreement, signed on September 29, 2026, under the presidency of Mathias Traoré, Minister of Servants of the People, establishes a formal regulatory framework for the sector.
A key provision of the agreement is the increase of the minimum base salary for security guards to 57,000 FCFA. Beyond wage adjustments, the convention introduces structured career paths, job classifications, and regulations regarding employment contracts and their termination.
The document, supported by the General Directorate of Labor, also covers labor rights, union activities, occupational health and safety, and dispute resolution. It aims to improve working conditions, enhance company competitiveness, and promote social peace. The agreement was signed by two umbrella organizations representing approximately 400 private security firms and is expected to be fully implemented one year after signing.
