Burkina Faso raises 151.5 billion FCFA via Diaspora Bonds
Burkina Faso has successfully raised 151.5 billion FCFA through its first issuance of ‘TPBF Diaspora Bonds’ on the Regional Securities Exchange (BRVM). The operation exceeded its initial target of 125 billion FCFA, achieving a coverage ratio of 121.2%.
The bond series includes ‘TPBF DIASPORA BONDS 6.75% 2026-2031’ and ‘TPBF DIASPORA BONDS 6.85% 2026-2033’. This strategic move aims to mobilize the savings of the Burkinabè diaspora through the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) regional financial market to support national development.
Officials noted that the success marks a shift in the role of the diaspora, moving from a source of family remittances to active investors in national economies. The operation involved a financial consortium including Vista Bank Burkina, Société Burkinabè d’Intermédiation Financière (SBIF), and Oragroup Securiti.
