Burkina Faso reports high budget revenues and creates new maintenance agency

Burkina Faso reported significant fiscal activity for the first half of 2026. According to Minister of Economy and Finance Aboubacar Nacanabo, budgetary revenues reached 1,972.85 billion FCFA by June 30, 2026, exceeding the semiannual target of 1,617.43 billion FCFA by approximately 21.97%. During the same period, executed expenditures totaled 1,832.67 billion FCFA, representing a 46.77% execution rate of the annual forecast.

In a separate development regarding public assets, the government announced that expenditures for the maintenance of public buildings rose to 18.8 billion FCFA in 2025, a 114% increase from 8.78 billion FCFA in 2023. To address maintenance challenges and administrative delays, the Council of Ministers, led by Ibrahim Traoré, approved the creation of Faso Sanya. This new administrative public establishment will be specifically responsible for the upkeep, cleanliness, and repair of state-owned infrastructure, including electrical, water, and climate control systems.
