Burkina Faso strengthens national statistical systems for 2026-2030 recovery plan

The National Institute of Statistics and Demography (INSD) held the first ordinary session of the National Statistics Council of the year in Ouagadougou on September 11, 2026. The meeting focused on using public statistics to support the monitoring, evaluation, and accountability of the 2026-2030 Recovery Plan.

During the session, participants reviewed the 2025 national statistical report and validated the draft for the 2027 National Statistical Program. A key objective is the implementation of the 5th Statistical Master Plan (SDS) for 2026-2030, which has an estimated total cost of 96.689 billion CFA francs.

Vieux Abdoul Rachid Soulama, representing the Minister of Economy and Finance, emphasized that developing a modern, reliable, and high-performance statistical system is a matter of national sovereignty. This initiative aims to allow the country to produce its own data to better understand local realities and guide public policy.
