Burkina Faso celebrates fourth anniversary of Progressive Popular Revolution

Burkina Faso celebrated the fourth anniversary of the Progressive Popular Revolution (RPP) on September 30, 2026, through a series of nationwide events known as the ‘Nuit de la RPP’. Major gatherings took place in Ouagadougou at the Place de la Révolution, as well as in regional centers including Gaoua, Koudougou, Banfora, and Tannounyan.

The celebrations featured musical performances, cultural displays, and official presentations highlighting government achievements in sectors such as health, agriculture, mining, and security over the past four years. A central theme of the festivities was paying tribute to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) for their roles in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

In Ouagadougou, Prime Minister Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo addressed the crowd, urging citizens to focus on tangible facts and developmental progress. The events also served as a platform for expressing solidarity with the leaders of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), including the heads of state of Mali and Niger. Local authorities reported high levels of public mobilization, characterizing the night as a historic moment of national cohesion and sovereignty.
