Burkina Faso to host second AES humanitarian forum in 2026

Burkina Faso will host the second humanitarian forum of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) in Ouagadougou from August 9 to 14, 2026. This meeting follows the inaugural edition held in Mali in August 2025.

The forum aims to bring together humanitarian actors from Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger to develop sustainable solutions for host populations, internally displaced persons, refugees, and victims of regional crises and natural disasters. The goal is to strengthen synergies and create a concerted, common humanitarian strategy across the Sahelian space based on solidarity and social cohesion.

Mali will be represented by a delegation led by the Minister of Health and Social Development, Colonel-major Assa Badiallo Touré, accompanied by the Minister for the Promotion of Women, Children, and the Family, along with various humanitarian sector actors.
