Burkina Faso to launch health communication month in national languages
Burkina Faso's Minister of Health, Dr. Robert Lucien Jean-Claude Kargougou, has announced the first edition of the ‘Month of Health Communication in National Languages.’ The initiative is scheduled to take place from November 2 to November 30, 2026, across the entire country.
The program aims to empower citizens to take an active role in their own health by providing information in languages they understand. The Minister emphasized that effective health communication is essential for prevention and protection, stating, ‘In matters of health, understood information can protect a life.’
Throughout the month, partner radio stations will host interactive programs, specialist interventions, and short informational capsules. The first week will focus on accountability regarding health sector reforms and achievements since September 2022. The subsequent three weeks will address specific health issues relevant to different regions. The initiative is supported by the departments in charge of Communication and National Languages.
