Burkina Faso transport authorities launch enforcement operations
The Directorate General of Land and Maritime Transport (DGTTM) has initiated several enforcement and regulatory operations across Burkina Faso to improve road safety and compliance.
In Bobo-Dioulasso, DGTTM Director General Vincent Tougouri led a mission to inspect vehicle registration. The operation targets the sale and use of unregistered vehicles, emphasizing that all machines intended for public roads must possess either provisional or definitive registration. Officials are encouraging the use of the ‘W card’ system, which allows authorized merchants to provide provisional registration on-site to facilitate legal travel for new owners.
Simultaneously, a special technical commission is holding its third mobile session in Boromo to review driver's license revocations. The commission is set to examine 40 cases involving traffic accidents and infractions. Officials stated that the session aims to strengthen road safety through both repressive measures and pedagogical outreach, reminding citizens that driving privileges are contingent upon adhering to the highway code.
