Burlington Stores expands with new locations in Florida and Louisiana
Burlington Stores is opening its 129th Florida location in Pompano Marketplace, South Federal Highway. The store, slated to open on August 14, will feature a modernized layout with wider aisles, improved signage and a broader range of discounted brand‑name merchandise. A ribbon‑cutting ceremony will mark the launch, the first 100 customers aged 18 and older will receive a $10 Bonus Card, and the retailer will donate $5,000 to a local high‑needs school. Burlington is also hiring for various positions as it continues its nationwide expansion.
In Gonzales, Louisiana, Burlington will take over the former Big Lots space in the Gonzales Plaza Shopping Center. Renovation permits show a $686,000 investment to remodel the 53,216‑square‑foot site on North Airline Highway. The move follows the closure of the Big Lots store after its parent’s Chapter 11 filing and reflects Burlington’s strategy to grow its presence in the state, where it already operates 12 stores. CEO Michael O’Sullivan said the company is focused on delivering value through new, modernized stores across the country.
