Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido lead global Afrobeats expansion

Nigerian Afrobeats artists Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido, often referred to as the ‘Big Three’, have significantly expanded the genre's global reach. While the artists have maintained a competitive relationship regarding their individual achievements and status, their collective rise has seen them secure major international record deals with labels such as Sony Music and Warner Music.

Burna Boy’s 2020 album, ‘Twice As Tall’, has reached a major milestone by surpassing two billion global streams six years after its release. The Grammy Award-winning album, which won Best Global Music Album at the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards, featured international collaborations with artists including Chris Martin and Stormzy. The album’s success, including a No. 1 debut on Billboard’s World Albums chart, solidified Burna Boy’s position as a global headliner.
