Burnley dismiss head coach Nicky Hayen
Burnley Football Club has sacked head coach Nicky Hayen with immediate effect following a disappointing start to their Championship campaign. The decision came shortly after a 4-1 defeat against Lincoln City, which left the club in 22nd place, three points from safety.
Hayen, the former Club Brugge and Genk manager, was appointed in July to replace Scott Parker with the goal of securing an immediate return to the Premier League. However, under his leadership, the Clarets managed only one victory in 12 league matches and struggled with a poor defensive record, conceding 25 goals during that period.
The club is now searching for a successor. Potential candidates linked to the role include Rob Edwards, Steven Gerrard, Sean Dyche, and Dave Challinor. Burnley chairman Alan Pace expressed his appreciation for Hayen’s professionalism and dedication despite the difficult circumstances.
