Burnout Among Brazilian University Professors Linked to Administrative Strain
A systematic literature review of higher‑education faculty in Brazil examined burnout through the lens of Work Psychodynamics. The study identified key psychodynamic factors that foster burnout, including excessive workload, pressure for productivity, lack of professional recognition, and a gap between prescribed and actual tasks. Organizational conflicts and fragile socio‑professional relationships further exacerbate psychological distress.
The analysis found that burnout translates into tangible administrative impacts: higher absenteeism, reduced staff productivity, and a decline in teaching quality. The authors recommend institutional management practices that prioritize faculty appreciation, mental‑health support, and improved working conditions to mitigate these effects.
