Bursa and Istanbul prepare for major running events and road closures

Major running events in Bursa and Istanbul will result in temporary road closures and traffic adjustments.

In Bursa, the 13th Eker I Run is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026. Approximately 5,000 participants will take part in 5K, 15K, and 42K marathon categories. Traffic regulations will be in effect from 06:00 to 14:00 in the Osmangazi district near Uludağ National Park, as well as on the Orhaneli Road and Lefkoşe Avenue in Nilüfer. The 42K marathon starts at 07:30 from the Uludağ Kurbağa Kaya Cable Car Station. For the 5K and 15K races, traffic adjustments on Orhaneli Road will occur between 09:15 and 14:00. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes such as FSM Boulevard and Beşevler Junction to reach Çamlıca.

In Istanbul, the 'I am Running Istanbul' European Stage 2026 will feature 7,500 participants competing in 5K and 10K races. The event is centered around the Yenikapı area, with routes passing through the Historical Peninsula. The 5K race is scheduled to begin at 08:00, followed by the 10K race at 09:15. Temporary transportation arrangements will be implemented around the Historical Peninsula to accommodate the runners, with roads reopening once the races conclude.
