Bursa Chamber of Commerce (BTSO) faces criticism over hotel investments

Necati Şahin, former head of the Chamber of Civil Engineers Bursa Branch and candidate for Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, has issued criticisms regarding the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) ahead of its upcoming elections on October 1, 2026.

Şahin criticized the current management's investment strategy, specifically highlighting a $60 million hotel project funded by member dues. He noted that while chambers in other cities are investing in universities, BTSO is expanding a hotel construction area from 4,000 to 10,000 square meters. He further alleged that there are plans to establish a new hotel chain following this investment, calling for a change in management approach.
