Bursa and US aim for $100 billion trade target
Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) President Özer Matlı met with US Consul General in Istanbul, Michael Lally, to discuss expanding commercial ties between the US and Bursa. The discussions focused on reaching a $100 billion trade volume by targeting high-value sectors such as technology, aviation, defense industry, and technical textiles.
Matlı highlighted Bursa's strong production infrastructure in automotive, textiles, and food, noting the potential for joint projects in third countries. Lally observed that approximately 2,400 Turkish companies, many operating in the Istanbul-Kocaeli-Bursa corridor, already work with US firms.
In parallel, Matlı has initiated an extensive series of meetings with local stakeholders to shape the chamber's new term. These include discussions with the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality regarding logistics and industrial infrastructure, as well as engagements with women entrepreneurs, small business unions, and the leadership of Bursaspor to strengthen the city's economic and social brand.
