Bursa City Hospital Designated Turkey’s Cystic Fibrosis Center

The Turkish Ministry of Health has officially authorized Bursa City Hospital as a Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Diagnosis and Treatment Center, making it the only public hospital in Bursa and surrounding provinces with this designation. The center will provide comprehensive services for children with CF, including early diagnosis, treatment, regular follow‑up, and family education.

Diagnosis relies on the internationally recognised sweat test (Ter Testi) following newborn heel‑prick screening. A multidisciplinary team across paediatric pulmonology and other specialties will manage patients from detection through long‑term care. Hospital director Doç. Dr. Salih Metin highlighted the centre’s role in improving life quality for affected children and emphasized its importance for the region.
