Bursa court releases TikTok influencer involved in live stream stabbing

A defendant identified as Merve A., a social media influencer known as ‘Karagül’, has been released from custody with a ban on traveling abroad following a stabbing incident during a TikTok live stream in Bursa’s Osmangazi district.

The incident occurred on April 21, when an argument between Merve A. and Gülcan Ö. escalated into a physical confrontation. During the live broadcast, Merve A. allegedly attacked Gülcan Ö. with a knife, causing injuries to her chest, face, and ear. Reports indicate the defendant continued the broadcast while the victim was bleeding.

During the hearing at the Bursa 27th Criminal Court of First Instance, Merve A. expressed regret and requested release, citing her six-month pregnancy, a health infection, and her responsibility toward her three other children. Her lawyer argued that the incident occurred under unlawful provocation. However, the victim, Gülcan Ö., denied provoking the attack and requested that the defendant remain in custody. The court granted the release with a travel ban and postponed the trial.
