Bursa cultural heritage documented in new exhibition

The “Istanbul Seeing a Dream: Bursa” exhibition has opened at the Üsküdar Mimar Sinan Gallery as part of the Foundation Works Inventory Project. The initiative aims to preserve and pass on cultural heritage to future generations by scientifically documenting foundation works across various Turkish provinces.

As part of the project, 385 foundation works in Bursa—including mosques, madrasas, inns, baths, tombs, and fountains—were recorded using nearly 35,000 photographs. From this collection, a three-volume book titled “Bursa Foundation Works” was created. The current exhibition features 87 selected photographs from this study and will remain open to visitors until September 30.

Mehmet Fatih Yorulmaz, Deputy General Manager of Vakıf Katılım, stated that the project provides a reliable reference for future restoration and academic research. The project previously documented 117 works in Hatay, a collection that has gained added significance following the heavy damage caused by the February 6, 2023, earthquakes.
