Bursa districts Mudanya and Altıeylül give food aid to thousands
Mudanya Municipality in Turkey’s Bursa province expanded its social assistance programme, delivering food parcels to needy households across all 47 neighbourhoods of the district. Local officials say the aid is intended to strengthen community solidarity while helping families cope with economic hardship.
In the neighbouring district of Altıeylül, municipal social services processed 6,479 applications in 2026, approving 4,744 requests. The municipality provided food assistance to 3,016 families, clothing aid to 1,197 families, cash transfers to 42 families, and hot‑meal services to over 100 families. Altıeylül’s total social‑aid expenditure reached 28.7 million Turkish lira, with 20.6 million lira allocated to food aid alone. Additional support included medical assistance, home‑repair help, and a cash contribution of 10 000 lira to a newly‑married couple.
