Bursa groups protest Menzil religious complex project

Members of the National Days Platform, including representatives from the Atatürkist Thought Association (ADD) Bursa branch, have issued a joint statement protesting a large-scale religious complex project planned for the Yeniköy neighborhood in Orhangazi, Bursa.

The project is reportedly linked to the Serhendi structure of the Menzil religious group. According to press reports, the development is planned to cover approximately 100 acres with 55,000 square meters of closed area. The protesting groups are demanding transparency regarding the project's legal permits, zoning plans, and building licenses.

The statement raises concerns that the facility may be designed to serve as a regional center for the Menzil group within the Marmara Region. The signatories, which include 16 different organizations such as unions and civil society groups, called on authorities to clarify the project's intended purpose, scope of activities, and compliance with environmental and zoning regulations, emphasizing the principles of secularism and the rule of law.
