Bursa Malaysia targets RM34 billion in IPO market capitalization
Bursa Malaysia Bhd is projected to reach an initial public offering (IPO) market capitalization target of RM34 billion for the 2026 financial year, driven by strong new listing momentum. RHB Research has increased this target from the RM28 billion projected in the second quarter, noting that 47 IPOs were recorded in the first nine months of the year.
Growth is expected to be supported by robust trading activity and several catalysts, including the expansion of the FBM KLCI index, the implementation of the MY Value Up Program, and increasing secondary listing opportunities. Bursa Malaysia reported a net profit of RM70.2 million for the third quarter of 2026, a 10 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Looking ahead, sectors such as utilities, construction, banking, and technology are expected to attract investor interest. The utility and construction sectors may benefit from data center developments, while the banking sector remains focused on upcoming monetary policy decisions from Bank Negara Malaysia. The technology sector is anticipated to see interest in semiconductor, electronics, and artificial intelligence service providers.
