Bursa market fined after cat filmed eating meat in butcher section

Authorities in Bursa, Turkey, have issued an administrative fine to a chain supermarket in the Mudanya district after video footage surfaced showing a cat eating meat from a refrigerated display in the butcher section.

The footage, captured by a customer, shows the cat accessing a meat package and consuming the contents. Reports indicate that a customer had previously alerted staff to the cat's presence, but the warning was allegedly dismissed by employees.

Following the incident, teams from the Mudanya District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry conducted an inspection. They determined that hygiene and food safety regulations had been violated. As a result, the meat products touched by the cat were seized for destruction, and the business was issued a fine of 52,800 TL.
