Nilüfer launches mobile health services for rural neighborhoods

Nilüfer Municipality, in collaboration with Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine, has launched the ‘Mobile Health Service’ project to improve medical access in rural areas. The initiative targets 27 neighborhoods that currently lack local health facilities.

Under the project, mobile teams consisting of doctors and nurses will visit three different neighborhoods each week between 09:30 and 16:00. Each neighborhood will receive periodic follow-ups every three months, totaling approximately 108 visits per year. The services include physical examinations, simple blood tests, respiratory function tests, and comprehensive health risk assessments to create individual health profiles.

Prof. Dr. Yeşim Uncu, Head of the Department of Family Medicine at Bursa Uludağ University, noted that the project aims to bring services directly to citizens to overcome barriers such as transportation difficulties, time constraints, and low health literacy. Beyond immediate testing, the project serves as a training ground for young physicians to gain field experience in community health.
