Karatay (Konya) to finish 6‑km service road and new hospital link this year
The Karatay district of Konya is advancing two major road projects intended to ease traffic and improve connectivity. A six‑kilometre side‑service road is being built along the Adana Ring Road between the Adana and Antalya ring routes, with staged paving and new road cuts. At the same time, works on the extension of Hasan Hüseyin Varol Avenue will create a direct link between the City Hospital and the Karaman Road junction.
Mayor Hasan Kılca said the works are “ongoing in stages” and expressed confidence that “the service road will be completed within the year, bringing relief to Karatay’s traffic load and improving travel comfort.” The combined upgrades aim to reduce congestion on the main ring road and provide an alternative corridor for commuters.
Both projects are scheduled for completion before the end of the calendar year, after which traffic density on the existing routes is expected to drop noticeably.
