The Bursa Provincial Health Directorate has launched specialized Child and Adolescent Smoking Cessation Clinics across four hospitals in Bursa, Turkey. This initiative, part of the Ministry of Health’s tobacco control programs, aims to combat the declining age of tobacco use among youth.

The participating facilities include Bursa City Hospital, Dr. Aytan Bozkaya Spastic Children's Hospital, Dörtçelik Children's Hospital, and Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital. These clinics will provide professional support, including psychological counseling, motivational interviews, and, where necessary, medical treatments to help adolescents overcome nicotine addiction.

Associate Professor Mehmet Erdem Uzun, a child and adolescent psychiatry specialist, warned that electronic cigarettes are increasingly common among young people. He emphasized that despite misconceptions regarding their safety, electronic cigarettes contain nicotine that can damage the developing brains of adolescents. The program also aims to provide guidance to families, encouraging supportive rather than pressured approaches to help their children quit.
