Bursa police launch massive peace operation in Görükle neighborhood

Around 1,500 officers from the Bursa Police Directorate carried out a coordinated "huzur" (peace) operation in the Görükle district of Nilüfer, Bursa. The evening sweep, overseen by the Public Order Branch, involved Traffic, Rapid Response and motorcycle units that set up fixed checkpoints throughout main streets, side alleys, parks and public venues.

Police stopped and inspected vehicles, searched luggage, and performed identity and General Information (GBT) checks on drivers and passengers. Individuals with arrest warrants, missing‑person status or suspicious behaviour were detained for further investigation. Additional checks were conducted at coffee shops, cafés, entertainment venues and other public businesses, including verification of licences and customer IDs. Traffic teams also enforced seat‑belt use, driver documentation, vehicle inspections, mandatory insurance and alcohol testing. The entire operation was recorded by aerial drones, showing long queues of stopped vehicles and the coordinated effort of the units. Bursa authorities said the aim was to deter crime, enhance public safety and will continue similar operations across the city.
