Bursa raid seizes 10 million‑lira counterfeit mineral oil operation
Turkish gendarmerie units, including the Bursa Provincial Gendarmerie Anti‑Smuggling and Organized Crime branch and the Gemlik District Gendarmerie, carried out a raid in Gemlik district, Bursa. The operation uncovered a counterfeit mineral oil production network valued at about 10 million Turkish lira.
Authorities seized 6,400 liters of base and waste oil, 3,120 liters of mineral oil, roughly 644,820 fake labels bearing brands such as Castrol, Motul, Shell, Elf, Opet and Mobil, plus 16,575 cartons, 1,445 plastic drums, 61,040 unlabeled drums, and 51,000 foil‑covered caps. Production equipment—including heating and boiling tanks, liquid‑filling machines, industrial coding and laser‑marking devices, foil‑sealing machines, compressors, centrifuge pumps and other machinery—was also confiscated. Five suspects were detained and legal proceedings were initiated against them.
