Bursa Technical University joins EU-funded wearable health project

Bursa Technical University (BTÜ) has joined the MORPHEUS Project, an international initiative supported by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation program. As one of 14 international partners, BTÜ will participate in a four-year project aimed at developing a next-generation wearable biosensor platform.

The project seeks to replace the complex network of cables currently used in intensive care and continuous patient monitoring with a single, flexible, and wearable system. This platform will allow for the real-time, uninterrupted monitoring of vital signs such as heart rate, respiration, and body temperature, while also being capable of measuring environmental factors like air quality.

BTÜ’s specific role is to develop the fundamental polymer material for the biosensor platform. Researchers aim to create a specialized material using bio-based raw materials rather than standard plastics, ensuring the platform is flexible, durable, biocompatible, and environmentally friendly. The project is coordinated by Politecnico di Torino (POLITO).
