Bursa to host international gastronomy congress in 2026

The Bursa Metropolitan Municipality will host the 5th International Gastronomy Festival, featuring the Bursa Experiential Gastronomy Congress (EGCON) from August 27 to 30, 2026. Under the theme ‘700-Year Bursa Table: A 7-Century Gastronomy Journey’, the event aims to bring the city's rich culinary heritage to the attention of the academic community.

Academics from 21 different Turkish universities will participate in the congress to scientifically evaluate Bursa's geographically indicated products, local flavors, traditional production methods, and historical culinary evolution. A key event will take place on August 29 at the Aktopraklık Höyük Arkeopark Open Air Museum, integrating gastronomy with archaeology, history, agriculture, and social life.

To ensure the findings contribute to long-term academic literature, abstracts will be published in Turkish and English. Selected full-text papers will be considered for publication in the Journal of Gastronomy (JoGA).
