Bursa Uludağ University and JLU Giessen partner on lung research

Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ) and Justus Liebig University (JLU) Giessen in Germany have entered a scientific partnership focused on lung and respiratory research through a ‘One Health’ approach. A BUÜ delegation visited the Pulmonology Institute at JLU to discuss integrating medical and veterinary expertise to study the connections between human, animal, and environmental health.

The collaboration aims to combine the expertise of Prof. Dr. Funda Coşkun in respiratory diseases with Prof. Dr. Dr. Hakan Salcı’s specialization in veterinary surgery. Key objectives include laboratory collaborations, data sharing, and academic mobility to investigate how interactions between human and animal health manifest in respiratory system diseases. The parties discussed translating academic knowledge into joint research projects and experimental studies.
