Bursa Uludağ University to implement QR code attendance system

Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ) is implementing a new Smart Attendance System starting September 28 during the 2026-2027 academic year. Developed by the university's IT Department, the web-based system aims to digitize and centralize the attendance process.

Students will participate in attendance by scanning a QR code displayed by instructors using their mobile devices or computers via a web browser, eliminating the need for a dedicated mobile application. The system features security measures including institutional account verification, SMS authentication for faculty and administrators, and rotating QR codes.

University Rector Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz stated that the initiative is part of a broader digital transformation to prepare the university infrastructure for the future. The system is designed to save time, reduce faculty workload, and provide efficient, transparent, and traceable attendance records that can be exported in Excel format.
