Bursa: Woman with COPD fights wildfire to protect forest

In the Yenişehir district of Bursa, 65-year-old Hanife Tiryaki intervened to stop a fire from spreading into a forest area. Despite suffering from COPD, Tiryaki rushed toward the flames in Fethiye Village after a stubble fire spread due to wind.

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality fire crews responded to the scene with two planes, four helicopters, eight water tenders, two water tankers, and two dozers. Their intervention successfully prevented the fire from consuming the forest. Following the incident, Fire Chief Fatih Kılıç visited Tiryaki at her home to express gratitude for her bravery.
