Bursa Zoo welcomes newborn zebra named Jason

A newborn zebra named ‘Jason’ has become a point of interest at the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Zoo in Turkey. The birth was discovered by chance during routine field inspections conducted by zoo staff.

Zookeeper Harun Yazgılı reported that the staff discovered the foal while performing morning health checks and area inspections. Following the discovery, the newborn and its mother were brought indoors for observation to ensure there were no injuries or health complications. After confirming the foal was healthy, they were returned to the zebra enclosure.

Jason is currently 13 days old and remains close to its mother. With this new addition, the total number of zebras at the zoo has reached 12. The Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Zoo is a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) and operates on a 206,600 square meter site.
