Osmangazi District Summer Neighborhood Festivals Attract Families and Children

The Osmangazi municipality has launched its annual "Yaz Mahalle Şenlikleri" (Summer Neighborhood Festivals) across the district. The first venue was Selamet Mahallesi, followed by events in İstiklal Mahallesi and other neighborhoods. Organised by the local government, the festivals feature children’s play areas, popcorn, cotton candy, face‑painting stalls and a concluding magician show. A notable attraction is the "Temiz Orkestra," a band composed of municipal cleaning‑staff members that performs live songs for attendees.

Mayor Erkan Aydın visited the sites, greeted residents, and pledged that the festivities will continue throughout the summer, emphasizing the role of the events in fostering community spirit. Parents and children described the celebrations as a "report‑card gift," highlighting the positive impact on neighbourhood cohesion.

The programme is planned to rotate to different quarters of Osmangazi for the remainder of the season, offering social, cultural and recreational activities to residents of all ages.
